On a recent cold, windy morning, a lady came to my house asking if she could pick up the pecans in my yard. In the short time we talked, I judged her to be an educated, intelligent person, and one of our homeless citizens. Not wanting to pry into her life, I didn’t question the reasons why she had lost her home. In thinking of her plight, I did recall the Prophet Ezekiel explaining how God had destroyed Sodom because of their failure to care for the poor and needy.
Ezekiel 16:49-50 in the King James Version “49 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.
“50 And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good.”
I sincerely hope God doesn’t decide to destroy Roswell because of the way we treat our homeless, and our poor. I sincerely hope God doesn’t decide to destroy our nation because of the way we treat the poor, the homeless and failure to provide adequate health care for all Americans.
