A man shoplifting at K-Mart was apprehended by police Monday afternoon.
Around 4:30 p.m., according to the Roswell Police Department’s public information officer, Todd Wildermuth, a call to officers began as an in-progress shoplifting at K-Mart.
Police said upon arrival, the suspect, 29-year-old Travis Thieleman, had taken off, running from officers on South Main Street.
Thieleman, who was shirtless while he was attempting to evade officers, had managed to lead officers on a chase, as officers reported that he had been running along the rooftops at Pueblo De Chamisa Apartments.
The Chaves County Sheriff’s Office also assisted with the call.
The shirtless subject was later apprehended between Sherwin-Williams Paints and Beijing Restaurant, where he was also arrested.
As a result of his evasion, Thieleman had been bleeding from his back. The Roswell Fire Department was called to treat his injuries. Authorities also searched a dumpster nearby the area, but were not able to recover any evidence related.
