Betty Jean Sawyer of Roswell, New Mexico, formerly of Moberly, MO, at the age of ninety, peacefully passed away with her children at her bedside, in her daughter’s home in Basehor, Kansas. Betty was born in Keytesville, Missouri in 1927.
She moved to Roswell, New Mexico in 1967 with her husband Donald Sawyer and lived there for forty-five years. She worked for Western Union in Kansas City, and in Wichita, Kansas. Betty was an accomplished singer and musician. She loved animals especially her Shih Tzu, Dolly.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Sawyer who passed away in 1979.
She is survived by her three children: Sandy Hale and her husband Robert, Don Sawyer and wife Linda, and Patti Sawyer and her husband David Martin; three grandchildren: Peggy Docman, Justin Sawyer, and Janelle Sawyer.
Betty is also survived by her sisters: Shirley Williams, Carolyn Nordwall, and Toni Bartram; Five great-grandchildren: Brandon, Jason, and Nathan Docman, Janiyah Holcombe, Atlas and Denali Sawyer, and two great-great-grandchildren: Mason and Mollie Docman and lifelong friends Faye and Mack Wilemon.
