A woman reported missing Sunday after leaving a local hospital on her own account has yet to be found, authorities say.
On Sunday evening, the Roswell Police Department released a statement, saying 80-year-old Leotta Talbert had left Eastern New Mexico Medical Center without being discharged.
A Silver Alert has since been issued for Talbert. According to the RPD, the missing woman has the onset of dementia and is considered endangered.
Authorities said Talbert is 5 feet, 7 inches tall with blue eyes and white hair.
The Roswell Police Department also reported that the missing woman’s car was also missing, adding that she may have left the hospital in the vehicle.
Police described Talbert’s vehicle as a 2011 white Ford Fiesta with the New Mexico license plate 502SBM.
In an update from Todd Wildermuth Monday afternoon, the RPD public information officer said hospital officials have been able to find and review video surveillance showing Leotta Talbert leaving the hospital.
“She was wearing a dark-colored jacket, a blue, perhaps denim-type, long skirt and white shoes,” Wildermuth said. “It is uncertain is she had an IV in her arm. She exited the building, found her car, got into it and drove away, exiting the parking lot and going south on Kentucky Avenue before leaving the view of the surveillance cameras.”
According to an update from the RPD Tuesday night, Talbert has yet to be found.
Authorities said anyone with information that could possibly help locate Talbert is asked to call 911 or the Roswell Police Department at 575-624-6770.
