Virginia T. Mendoza, 78, was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 27, 2017. A Rosary will be recited at Assumption Catholic Church in Roswell, NM, at 11:30 AM, with a Mass following at 12:10 PM. On January 10, 1939, Virginia was born to the late Homer and Manuelita Trujillo in Picacho, NM. She was the eldest of eight children, her sisters are: Inez Roach of Dallas, TX, Beatrice and husband, Jimmy Orosco, Helen Hernandez, Lisa Trujillo of Roswell, NM, Patsy and husband, Lasado Grado of Hagerman, NM, Dine and husband, Jim Garmatz of Ruidoso, NM; one brother, Homer Trujillo and wife, Debbie of Roswell, NM. Virginia was a lifelong resident of Hagerman, NM.
Virginia was a twenty-year breast cancer survivor. Spending time with her family was the most important thing to her. She had a great love for her other little family who were her dogs: Lili, Cookie, Chapo, Huera and Penny. Virginia loved to dance and listen to her family play music. Her passion for life and family were unmeasurable. Virginia was proud to have owned and ran Virginia’s Valley Café in Hagerman, NM, for six years. She worked closely with her son Mike, doing what they both loved best, cooking. From Virginia’s time running the Café, she began to sell her salsa that everyone loved. Virginia loved to dance, and made sure to teach her children how to jitterbug. Her favorite dance partner to jitterbug with was Inez; they would dance the night away. Later in years, Virginia reconnected with many friends through Facebook and loved chatting with old and new friends.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Linda Mendoza of Hagerman, NM, Mike Mendoza of Hagerman, NM, Becky and husband, Richard Vigil of Chula Vista, CA; great-granddaughter, Jordan and husband, Tanner Ezell of Artesia, NM; grandchildren and spouses: Kristie Dunnahoo, Tom Powell and fiancé, Jovana Pivac, Richard Vigil, Victoria Santiesteban, Jorge Ray and wife, Theresa Garcia, Gerina and husband, Martin Piller, Mike and wife, Guadalupe Mendoza, Megan and her husband, Brandon Cook; great-grandchildren: Jonathan Williams, Desmond Powell, Ethan Powel, Tristen Powell, Chloe Powell, Andjela Powell, Natalie Vigil, Evangeline Gurdele, Mia Mendoza, Ciara Mendoza, Gia Garcia, Cruz Garcia, Arianna Santieteban, Emalie Vigil; baby Cook, baby Piller on the way; and great-great-children: Holdyn Ezell and Xaiden Powell.
Honorary Pallbearers are her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
