Cinco de Mayo festivities begin

The free event resumes at 11 a.m. today at the Russ DeKay Soccer Complex at 1500 N. Grand Ave. The carnival and car show begins at 11 a.m., with musical performances throughout the day, culminating with Tejano headliner Michael Salgado at 7:30 p.m. Chihuahua races will take place at 5 p.m., followed by a taco and jalapeño eating contest at 7 p.m. (Jeff Tucker Photos)
