Teenager found dead in Pecos River

CARLSBAD — A Carlsbad teenager has been found dead in a vehicle submerged in the Pecos River.
Carlsbad police said they responded at about 10 a.m. Sunday to the corner of North Mesa Street and West Riverside Drive to a report of a vehicle submerged in the Pecos River.
Police said 19-year old Thiessen Lambert was still within the vehicle, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said no one else was inside the vehicle.
Police said the cause of the incident is still under investigation. The vehicle was reportedly traveling northbound and struck a parked utility trailer before falling into the Pecos River.
