Above, a youngster dons firefighter gear Monday morning during the summer kickoff for the Healthy Kids free lunch program. About 40 children participated in this event, including Pecos Elementary School. In addition to the younger children who participated, Goddard High School’s baseball team and Roswell High School’s dance team joined in.

Many families join in to picnic in the grass and enjoy the free lunch provided by Healthy Kids. These free lunches happen every week day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. providing healthy meals to all children ages 18 and under. The locations for these lunches are at Carpenter, Cahoon and Fifth Street parks as well as Spring River Park and Zoo.

All the children have fun with the  help of Roswell firefighters. Each youngster had the opportunity to go through the course and spray the hose at the end. What’s better than free lunch and exciting activities? (Keilee Templeman Photos)
