Frequent flyers should beware

American Airlines has imposed a new rule that automatically shuts down their ticket-counter system 30 minutes before a flight’s departure time. So, if you are checking bags and get to the airport early, you and your luggage still may not make that flight if you are not able to check in at the ticket counter before their system shuts down.
This happened to me last Saturday when a large group arrived before us and some in that group had issues that took a very long time to resolve causing about a dozen passengers behind them to miss the flight. Just to be safe, if you are flying with checked luggage, you should probably plan on arriving at the airport earlier than normal.
