The last day of school until fall for many local youth is just another working day for the Roswell Independent School District Board of Education.
The Board will hold a special meeting today to vote on an initial operating budget for the district and for the district-authorized charter school, Sidney Gutierrez Middle School.
The meeting will occur at noon in the Administrative and Educational Services Complex, 300 N. Kentucky Ave.
Board documents indicate that the district is projecting an initial budget for the next academic year of $77.15 million, a decrease of 0.44 percent, or $344,291, from the previous year.
Other matters to be discussed included whether the school board should retain a consultant to assist with the superintendent’s search and a Title III grant application for immigrant services, which the district must file each year with the New Mexico Public Education Department.
