NMMI breaks with tradition for bike rally

NMMI alumni broke with tradition and rode their bikes through the Hagerman Sally Port Saturday evening while participating in the first Alumni Motor Rally. The event started Friday with a "meet and greet" and included a Saturday ride through Cloudcroft and Ruidoso and back to Roswell by way of Artesia. About 48 people joined. Maj. Gen. Jerry Grizzle, superintendent of the Institute, who also rode with the group, called it a great experience and said people had ridden from many parts of New Mexico as well as from Louisiana, Nevada, Arizona, California and Kansas to take part. Most of the time, motorized vehicles, with the exception of golf carts, are prohibited in the barracks area. (Lisa Dunlap Photo)
