Roswell Invaders left-fielder Kyle Peralta was in a tough spot down 0-2 with two outs and his team down by one in the bottom of the ninth Thursday. His night was less than stellar, going 1-for-5, but that didn’t matter as he battled back to a full-count, fouled a few more off, then singled in the tying run.
A wild pitch from Trinidad sealed the deal, as Roswell third baseman Bobby Webb scampered home and the Invaders opened a four-game series against the Triggers with a 10-9 walk-off win at Joe Bauman Stadium.
The Invaders (5-3) scored six runs through the first six innings, but the offense dissipated and the visitors scored three in the eighth to take a 9-6 lead.
Conner Comacho took the mound to get the Invaders out of the eighth and Toby Eigner kept the Triggers (5-3) off the board in the final frame.
The Roswell rally started with singles from Joel Garza, Julian Bilodeau and Tobias Moreno — the last of which scored Garza to make in 9-7 with no outs.
After the first out, the Trinidad intentionally walked Kaohu Gaspar, a questionable decision considering the hard-hitting Webb was on deck.
Webb hit into a fielder’s choice, but pushed Moreno across the plate to reduce the deficit to a single run. Then came Peralta’s big at bat and the ensuing wild pitch that won the game for the ‘Vaders.
Webb had another good night at the Joe — he went 6-for-6 with five RBIs in Tuesday’s home opener — going 2-for-4 with an RBI and two walks.
Catcher Zach Migliozzi went 2-for-4, including a solo homer in the third inning. Moreno was 3-for-6 with two RBIs, Gaspar was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a walk and Garza went 2-for-2 with a run scored.
The Invaders continue their five-game homestand tonight at 7 p.m. for the second of four games against the Triggers.
