The second matchup of a four-game series between the Roswell Invaders and the visiting Trinidad Triggers was a back-and-forth battle that went late into Friday night, but things were looking good for the home team after last nights heroes, Bobby Webb and Kyle Peralta, each scored on wild pitches in the eighth to make it 8-5.
If the ‘Vaders were able to hold on, it was the second night in a row that wild tosses from the Trinidad relievers led to a Roswell victory.
As of the bottom of the eighth, Peralta was 1-for-2 with two runs scored and a walk, Caleb Patterson was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and starting pitcher Mike Scimanico helped his cause going 1-for-2 with a run scored.
Scimanico threw five full innings, giving up two earned runs on three hits with five walks and six strikeouts. Three Roswell relievers pitched innings six through eight, allowing three runs.
The Invaders five-game homestand continues tonight with the third of four against the Triggers. The White Sands Pupfish will come to the Joe Monday night to start another here-there-here series. All games are scheduled for 7 p.m.
