A youngster dons firefighter gear Monday morning during the summer kickoff for the Healthy Kids free lunch program. About 40 children participated in this event, including Pecos Elementary School. Just as the Pecos Elementary School children, many families join to picnic in the grass and enjoy the free lunch provided by Healthy Kids. These free lunches happen every week day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. providing healthy meals to all children ages 18 and under. The locations for these lunches are at Carpenter, Cahoon and Fifth Street parks as well as Spring River Park and Zoo. (Keilee Templeman Photo)
