Let’s do the arithmetic on the UBI, shall we?
Assuming a $12,000 annual stipend to all Americans (321 million of us) the annual bill comes to $3.8 trillion. Assuming an annual stipend of $50,000, the annual tab comes in at $16 trillion.
Just for reference, the U.S. Gross Domestic Product last year was $18 trillion. These annual incomes are below the poverty level in most parts of our nation. Now for the pragmatism: Where does this money come from?
