Belen Chavarria Widner, 90, of Roswell, NM, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017, in Roswell, NM. Visitation will be held at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home in Roswell NM, on Thursday, July 6, 2017, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Thursday, July 6, 2017, at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, July 7, 2017, at 2 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. On December 6, 1926, Belen Chavarria Widner was born to Domingo and Josefa Chavarria in Anthony, NM. She loved to sing, dance, embroider and quilt by hand, as well as complete word search and cross word puzzles. Belen enjoyed watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and CSI. She sang for many years in the Arrey, Hatch, and Rincon Catholic Church choirs as well as St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Roswell, NM, with her husband, Eloy. Belen was a devout Catholic and a firm believer in prayer, praying for her family and the Rosary daily. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Belen worked various jobs, though her greatest was being a homemaker. She graciously did everything unconditionally for her husband and children whom she loved dearly. Belen will be deeply missed by all whose lives she has touched.
Preceding Belen in death are her husband, Eloy C. Widner; son, Freddie; parents: Domingo and Josefa; brothers: Louie and Ralph; sisters: Helen, Cuca, Rosalia; grandchild, Altie Louie; great grandchildren: Jazmine, Demarcus, Ruppert Joe, Robert Eloy, and Miguel Angel.
Surviving to cherish Belen’s memory are her sisters: Esperanza Tavarez, Rosie Reyes, Consuelo Perez; brother, Domingo Chavarria Jr; children: Albert Rendon, Modesto Cruz Chavez, Jose Luis Chavez, Irene Mendoza, Fred Widner, Virginia Diaz, Alice Hefner and Reynaldo Widner. Belen Widner has 22 loving grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Those chosen as Honorary Pallbearers are: Albert Rendon, Jose Luis Chavez, Modesto Cruz Chavez, Joe W. Mendoza, Stephen W. Mendoza, Julian W. Mendoza, Anthony C. Widner, Pedro Diaz Jr, Joseph Servantez, and Xander R. Widner.
