The case regarding the man who attempted to drive himself to a local hospital after being shot in the leg Monday night has been closed.

The Roswell Police Department’s public information officer, Todd Wildermuth, said the shooting victim did not want to cooperate with investigators asking for information about the incident.
The 19-year-old man with a non-life threatening injury to his leg told authorities Monday he was shot by someone who walked up to his vehicle while he was sitting in it at Town Plaza Apartments in the 1200 block of West McGaffey Street. The victim signed a waiver to not press charges.

However, police said the investigation indicates the gunshot wound was likely self-inflicted and not the result of another person shooting at him as he claimed.
“This was the theory, based on investigators’ observations, immediately after officers first arrived at the scene near College and Main (Monday) night,” Wildermuth said.
No gun was found in the victim’s vehicle, Wildermuth said.
