The Battle of the Badges Blood Drive takes place throughout multiple communities in New Mexico, and from Aug. 2-3, United Blood Services is bringing the event back to Roswell.

The fifth-annual blood drive will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 2 and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 3 at the Roswell Chamber of Commerce at 131 W. Second St.
The Battle of the Badges Blood Drive provides the opportunity for members of the community to not only donate blood, but also show their support for first responders.
In Roswell, the battle puts the Roswell Police Department up against the Roswell Fire Department, with Battle of the Badges T-shirts being given away to donors.
Everyone giving blood can cast a vote for the agency of their choice during this Battle of the Badges. Donors are asked to make an appointment, but United Blood Services will also try to accommodate walk-ins.

Volunteer blood donors must be at least 16 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. There are additional height and weight requirements for donors 23 and younger. For donors who are 16, they must have signed permission from a parent or guardian.
To schedule an appointment or for more information, call 575-840-8178 or go to bloodhero.com and enter sponsor code: NNBattle.
United Blood Services has been this area’s nonprofit community blood provider since 1951 and serves patients in 47 hospitals in New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona and Utah. The United Blood Services network is one of the nation’s oldest and largest nonprofit blood service organizations, and is a founding member of America’s Blood Centers.
