Dozens of youth in the area will show off their livestock, pets and horses at the fairgrounds in the coming days as the annual Chaves County 4H and FFA Fair gets underway.

The fair will occur Monday through Saturday, July 29, at the Eastern New Mexico State Fairgrounds, 2500 S.E. Main St.
Before the fair, the rescheduled youth horse show, halted after only a few events on July 15 due to rain, is scheduled for today at 5 p.m. at the Bob Crosby Arena on the fairgrounds. Five youth, ages 8 to 17, are expected to compete in various categories.

Events are open and free to the public and give youth the chance to receive recognition for their abilities to care for and raise livestock and pets. Exhibits of agricultural mechanics projects and wool and fashion items also will be available. The Junior Livestock Auction is slated for 7 p.m. Friday.
More information, and a link to a Chaves County 4H newsletter giving the full schedule for the fair, is available on the New Mexico State University Chaves County 4H Facebook page, facebook.com/ChavesCounty4H/.
