Dolores A. Boyer, 79, of Overland Park, KS, passed away on July 19, 2017, peacefully at her home surrounded by family. Dolores was born on March 13, 1938, in Roswell, NM, to the late Porter Boyer, Sr. and Lola M. Noles.
Dolores worked for the Post Office 30+ years, retiring in 2013. Before her career at the Post Office, Dolores owned and operated her beauty shop in Roswell, NM. Her passion for cosmetology allowed her to provide women with excellent advice: “Never leave the house without your hair done and lipstick on.” This advice was only one of the many words of wisdom she passed on over the years. Her quick wit and caring personality always kept her family and friends laughing. A few of her interests outside of family and her career included gardening, her love of her dogs, and gambling a few dollars away at the casino.
Surviving family include Richard Carl Biggers (son), Christine Biggers (daughter-in-law), Priest Biggers (grandson), Breann Biggers (great-granddaughter), Tiana Key (great-granddaughter), Maxine Stevens (niece), Gilbert Stevens (nephew-in-law), Lavern Hatchett (niece), Larry Hatchett (nephew-in-law) Daphne Grey (great-niece), Brian Franklin (nephew), Angela Richardson (niece), Patty Marshall.
Preceded in death by Porter Boyer, Sr. (father), Lola M. Noles (mother), Porter Boyer, Jr. (brother), Sherwood Boyer (brother), Levina Floyd (sister), Richard Triggs (brother), Devon Biggers (great-grandson).
Keeping with Dolores’ wishes, immediate services will not be held. We will honor Dolores next year on 3/13/2018 by throwing her a birthday party to celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Luke’s Hospice in Dolores’ name.
