After a disappointing trip to Alpine, Texas to end the regular season, the Roswell Invaders returned to the mothership Sunday to blank the Trinidad Triggers 6-0 in the first contest of a best-of-three playoff series.

The home team got on the scoreboard early with a run in each of the first two innings. Left fielder Cody Bishop scored in the opening frame on a Joey Miller double and starting pitcher Mike Scimanico scored in the next inning on a single by Kaohu Gaspar.
Bishop went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored while Gaspar also had two hits to go .500 with two RBIs.
Scimanico dealt six shutout innings, allowing just two hits with six walks and nine strikeouts. The right-hander helped his cause at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a run scored.

A three-run sixth inning gave the Invaders a commanding lead and an insurance run in the eighth put the icing on the cake.
Reliever Lance Fairchild gave up a hit in the seventh and Alex Dandridge closed out the final two innings, allowing a single hit while striking out three Triggers.
Rain washed out Monday nights Game 2 at Joe Bauman Stadium. If Mother Nature cooperates, the series will commence at 7 p.m. tonight.
