From Monday, July 17 to Friday, July 21, the New Mexico State Police participated in what they described as a high-priority commercial vehicle enforcement operation. The procedure took place in both Eddy and Lea counties.

Carl Christiansen, public information officer for NMSP, said in a press release that the event focused on heightened enhancement of safety aspects of commercial motor vehicle operations, with a special emphasis on cargo securement.
“Varying levels of inspections were conducted during the three-day period, with a total Out of Service rate of 24.3 percent,” Christiansen said.

“Inspectors conducted a total of 719 total inspections, issuing over 585 citations, while placing 119 vehicles out of service for an array of infractions, and made 5 arrests during the period.”
Christian said the NMSP Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement Bureau will continue to work with federal counterparts to bring about the highest level of roadway safety in New Mexico.
