An unexpected condition during a pavement removal is requiring extra room for equipment and causing both northbound lanes of Union Avenue to be closed Wednesday from 7 a.m. to about 4:30 p.m.

The removal is part of an improvement project for North Union Avenue between Second and Eighth streets.
Todd Wildermuth, the city of Roswell’s public information officer, said the closure could possibly be extended to Thursday. However, southbound lanes on Union Avenue will not be affected and a northbound lane is expected to be be reopened by Friday at the latest.

“Northbound through traffic will not be allowed in the project area, between Second and Eighth streets, during this one- or two-day closure,” Wildermuth said. “However, local access to businesses and residences will be accommodated by work crews. Motorists who find they need assistance gaining local access should contact a worker on site or call the city’s supervisor for the project at (575) 910-5070.”
The City of Roswell asks citizens for their cooperation and thanks them for their patience and understanding.
