Area moms and families, including, from left, Kelsey Ragsdale of Roswell and her son, Kye, 18 months, and Lisa Chiasson of Roswell and her son, Ethan, 3, gathered Friday morning at Daniel E. Carpenter Park on Southeast Main Street for the Big Latch On and the Live Love Latch events held as part of World Breastfeeding Week, Aug. 1-7. Providing women with information and resources and increasing acceptance of public nursing of children are two of the aims of the event. More information about local breastfeeding support efforts is available from the Roswell office of the New Mexico Department of Health Women, Infants and Children Program, 200 E. Chisum St., 624-6171, or the La Leche League of Roswell, which has a Facebook page and meets twice a month at Grace Community Church. (Lisa Dunlap Photo)
