An arrest warrant was issued Friday afternoon for a Roswell man accused of fatally shooting his girlfriend during an argument at a Roswell hotel earlier this month.

The Roswell Police Department said detectives filed the criminal complaint in magistrate court and obtained the arrest warrant for Jeremy Hawkins, 35, who remained at large Friday.
Hawkins is charged with an open count of murder and four other criminal counts in connection with the death of 31-year-old Ashley Sena of Roswell.
Police said Sena is believed to have been Hawkins’ girlfriend.
Sena’s body was found the afternoon of Aug. 4 when hotel staff entered a room at Comfort Suites hotel in the 3600 block of North Main Street.
Police said Sena had been shot once in the face.
Police said in a news release Friday that investigators believe that following the shooting, Hawkins took the gun used to fire the fatal shot and discarded it elsewhere. Police said Hawkins cannot legally possess a firearm because of a prior felony conviction for child abuse.

In addition to the murder charge, Hawkins faces one count of tampering with evidence, one count of felon in possession of a firearm and two counts of intimidation of a witness.
Police said investigators believe Hawkins later threatened or intimidated two people regarding the murder investigation.
The RPD late Thursday afternoon identified three persons of interest in the investigation of Sena’s murder. RPD spokesperson Todd Wildermuth said detectives wanted to talk with Hawkins and a 29-year-old man and 30-year-old woman.
Wildermuth said Friday that investigators were no longer seeking any other persons of interest in the case.
Police asked anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Hawkins to call the RPD at 575-624-6770 or Chaves County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-594-TIPS.
