I would like to address the 322 citizens who voted for me in the District 2, RISD school board election.

I would also like to address the many teachers, school employees and community members who have contacted me in the past few weeks regarding the open RISD board position. I greatly appreciate your confidence and support, however at this time, I will not seek the District 2 board position. I recently was elected to serve on the board of directors for Tobosa Developmental Services and have committed myself to this worthwhile organization.

Tobosa is a private, nonprofit organization that provides adult and child services to approximately 450 clients in our community. The mission of Tobosa is to “support individuals and families challenged by developmental disabilities to discover their unique gifts as they work toward fulfilling their individual life goals and dreams.” Tobosa has 255 employees who help adults establish and maintain independent lives. In addition, children receive developmental instruction, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and family counseling.
If you are interested in learning more about this organization please contact Rosy Rubio, CEO/executive director at 575-624-1025, ext. 112.
Yours for a better community,
Louis Mestas
