Two people were taken to a local hospital Saturday afternoon following a crash at the intersection of Sunset Avenue and West Alameda Street, according to a Roswell police officer.

Sgt. Michael Law said that the exact cause of the crash was unknown shortly after the incident, but that the police were aware that two people who apparently knew each other had been following one another at high rates of speed as they traveled northbound on Sunset Avenue at about 9:42 a.m. Saturday.

One vehicle then attempted to make a turn west onto Alameda Street but did not navigate the turn correctly and crashed into the parking lot of Waymaker Church. Two people from that vehicle sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital, Law said.
