Senior Spotlight – Valeria Bonilla

Last season had to be tough on Roswell’s senior Valeria Bonilla. Bonilla had to watch her team make it to the state tournament and couldn’t help. She had to sit out last season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament, which cost her her junior season.

Playing high school sports is tough, and getting in-shape can be a chore. As a middle blocker, Bonilla had to work twice as hard to make sure her speed and agility were back so she could contribute to the Lady Coyotes’ success this season.
With this being her final year, the injury is the furthest thing on her mind. Her concern is providing leadership to her teammates, which has been passed down to her from previous classes.
“I feel pressure, Bonilla said. “Over the past three years, we have had really good leaders here. I think it is a lot of weight on my shoulders to take on that leadership role, because I’m not used to it.”

RDR: What are your personal goals?
VB: I just want to become better and help my team any way I can. I want to communicate and do my role as a middle blocker.
RDR: What are your team goals?
VB: To win state and play the very best we can every day.
RDR: What has been your favorite win so far in your career?
VB: Probably every district win. In district, the games are always competitive, providing great fun and making it a great experience.
