MainStreet Roswell members will be doing their part to help out in Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.

As part of its monthly First Friday downtown event, today starting at 5 p.m. store owners and merchants will collect donations to send to the American Red Cross and its campaign to assist people and cities affected by the massive hurricane that hit Houston and other Texas coastal cities this week.
Some retailers also will donate or match donations, according to Kathy Lay, executive director of MainStreet.

First Fridays encourage visiting and shopping in the central downtown business corridor on North Main Street between Fourth and Second streets by offering food, entertainment, nonprofit booths, special discounts or giveaways, and extended business and shopping hours. Today’s First Friday is also Progressive Art Day. Visitors can bring a blank canvas, tote bag, T-shirt or other surface that can be decorated and then drop in at various stores to use the supplies provided to design a special piece.
