The Colt soccer team took on the Clovis Wildcats Tuesday evening in Roswell and lost 3-0.
“Clovis was on a different gear than we were and we are trying to get to that level. Anytime you play a 6A school it is tough, but at the same time you aren’t going to get any better if you don’t challenge yourself, “said Coach John Barbour.
Markus Baughman scored early for Clovis, rocketing the ball into the top right corner of the net off of a cross pass
Clovis would go on to score two more goals in the second half and make the score 3-0.
Barbour said, “We are improving every day and passing better and actually getting our heads up trying to find each other.”
Even though Clovis was a tough test, the Colts are looking forward to playing teams in their own classification.
“We are going to try and get better and when we start playing 3A and 4 A teams, like Socorro this weekend.
Last time we played them, they came down here and played right with us and we were able to come out with a win. We are real competitive with them and hopefully we will go down there and repeat that process. I know they have been practicing and so have we, but they won’t give us anything,” said Barbour.
The Colts will be traveling to Socorro on Saturday and will kick off at 3 p.m.
