The Colt Soccer team took on Artesia Tuesday evening in Roswell and fell to the Bulldogs 2-1.
NMMI played arguably their best half of soccer in the first half, but the momentum did not carry over.
Artesia would go on to score two unanswered goals; one in the 55th minute and their second came in the 73rd minute.
Coach John Barbour said, “We found out what happens when we aren’t the first ones to the ball and that is what cost us the two goals.”
NMMI would rally and score a late goal in the 79th minute thanks to the right foot of Mario Camou, but the comeback would be cut short as the official called the game shortly after.
Mario had no fear when he went into the box and smashed it in and when you go win balls in the air good things happen and it paid off for him,” said Barbour.
The Colts will open district play against Hope Christian on Saturday at 3:00 PM in Roswell.
