On behalf of the employees and retirees of Southwestern Public Service Company and Xcel Energy, I want to thank the Historical Society for Southeast New Mexico for the outstanding tribute paid to our company at the annual Heritage Dinner on Aug. 29.

We are especially honored to be recognized by such a prestigious organization. The Historical Society plays a critical role in helping us understand who we are and what we’re about. History is more than just interesting stories and faded artifacts. It is a blueprint for how we move forward in a changing world. The men and women working to preserve history in Roswell and southeast New Mexico are to be commended for the fine work they do on a daily basis. I am amazed they found time to organize such a terrific event. We take part in a lot of fundraisers and dinners, and we know it’s no small task to pull off a big night such as the Heritage Awards Dinner. I have to say Amy McVay-Davis, her staff, volunteers and board have set a new standard for excellence.

We are honored to serve the city of Roswell and surrounding areas. Roswell is where SPS got its start in 1904, and it’s where we adopted our core values of hard work and service to others. As our company has expanded, we have taken what we learned in Roswell and applied it in all the towns and cities where we live and do business. We know that our success is dependent upon the prosperity and stability of our communities, and we remain committed to supporting the activities that make our towns and cities the best places to live. We have a long history in Roswell, and we look forward to many more years of providing the energy our customers need to grow and thrive. Thank you for the privilege of serving Roswell and Chaves County.
David Hudson
President, Xcel Energy – NM
