Anton Milton Polak was born July 31, 1935 to Johnnie Polak and Virgie Oleene (Adams) Polak in the Crisp community, near Ennis, Texas. He moved to Dexter, New Mexico when he was about 13 years old, and grew up farming with his family. He had two sisters, Jane Marie (m. Ed) Scifers, who precedes him in passing and Billie LaFaye (m. Alan) Reed. Milton was also raised alongside his cousin Doyle (m. Christine) Jackson who was like a brother to him. Milton joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1952 before marrying the love of his life, Marian Grace Griffith-Polak on November 11, 1958 while stationed in California. He was also stationed overseas in Japan and Hawaii. Marian and Milton had five children, Tony Kaye Polak (m. Dallas), Elizabeth Oleene Polak-Vallejos, Joseph Wayne Polak (m. Penny) and Nancy Corinne Polak-Wall (m. Lowell). Six days after Marian and Milton celebrated their Silver Anniversary, Marian gave birth to one last child, Vanessa Marie Polak-Svehlak (m. Michael). Milton left the Marine Corps in 1961 after 8 1/2 years of service. After he left the Marines, he supported his family through long-haul semi truck operating. He would sometimes take his family on little road trips while he was making his routes, and spent a lot of time with his family when he wasn’t on the road. Milton enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting and fishing in his younger years and his family fondly remembers going on weekend hunting and fishing trips together with him growing up. Milton retired and moved to Kerens, Texas in 2000, where he spent the last 17 years ranching and spoiling his 21 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation was held on Friday, September 15, 2017, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.
A private family burial will be held at a later date.
