A new competitive grant program has been announced by the state that will award small amounts of funding for early stage science and technology companies at critical points in their growth.

The Innovation Voucher Program will provide up to $2,000 in funding to science and technology companies affiliated with a New Mexico incubator or accelerator program, according to an announcement by New Mexico Economic Development Secretary Matt Geisel and the Technology Research Collaborative.

Each company can receive one award a year and no more than three awards during five years.

“This program continues to move New Mexico forward as a leader in technology ventures,” said Geisel. “This investment strengthens our commitment to building a healthier economy and helping our homegrown companies succeed.”

Applications should be submitted to Julia Wise, manager of the Office of Science and Technology. More information will be provided at the Innovation Voucher Town Hall to be held at Team Technologies in Albuquerque on Sept. 28 at 11 a.m.
