Carlsbad man dies Saturday in car crash

A 24-year-old Carlsbad man died Saturday in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 285 near Carlsbad.

When New Mexico State Police officers arrived on the scene around 7 a.m., they determined that a 1997 Toyota, driven by Jared Galindo, was traveling north on U.S. 285 when it entered the median and overturned.

Galindo was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle. He sustained fatal injuries, and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator.

This investigation is ongoing with no further information available at this time.
