Allocate money wisely for homeless

Roswell appears to have a mild version of NIMBY (Not In My BackYard) these days with respect to determining a suitable location for proposed homeless site. Lisa Dunlap’s article mentioned two venues; one near Cattle Baron’s restaurant and another not far from Anderson Museum of Contemporary Art.

How could one fault either of these entities for having concerns about homeless shelters proximate to their operations? Libraries and museums are sometimes magnets for the wayward.

I believe it was City Councilor Juan Oropesa who stated homelessness is a choice for some. Homelessness is a problem that we all want to solve, but the solution has been and will always be problematic. I suspect the tone of this missive might be construed as callous and indifferent to the position of the truly needy in our community, but I want to be sure that any public money spent on the problem is allocated circumspectly and wisely.
