A portion of Main Street will be closed for a few hours Monday to accommodate the Eastern New Mexico State Fair parade that will roll through downtown Roswell. Handicapped parking will be provided along one downtown block on the parade route so those spectators can view the parade from their vehicles. City offices will be closed so city employees may attend the parade.

Main Street: The parade route on Main Street between 19th and McGaffey streets will be closed to traffic beginning at 9:30 a.m. The parade, which begins at 10 a.m. and will travel south, is expected to last at least two hours. Traffic detours will be in place. Intersections along Main Street will reopen after the parade passes each intersection.

Special handicapped parking area: A special area along Main Street will be made available for handicapped parking during the parade. The “cut-out” curb parking on the east side of Main Street between Third and Fourth streets will be saved for handicapped parking. Those with a handicapped parking permit will be allowed to park in this area beginning at 9 a.m. Monday. Anyone wanting to park in this area should arrive before Main Street is closed at 9:30 a.m.

City offices: City hall will be closed Monday between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. (noon-1 p.m. is the regular lunch hour) so employees can attend the parade. Other city offices may be closed as well. The city of Roswell invites all citizens to come out to enjoy the parade on Main Street through downtown Roswell.
