Andrea Louise Hill Smith-Leach passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017, in Grapevine, Texas, surrounded by the love of her family.
Andi was born in Roswell, New Mexico on November 25, 1951 to Alex M. and Dorothy Routledge Hill and taken home to her delighted brother and sister, Steve and Lexie, who thought she was the most beautiful baby sister ever and proudly showed off her platinum blonde curls and big blue eyes to everyone they met. Andi was a fourth generation native born New Mexican, and proud “Jemez Woman.” A baby sister, Danna, and brother Jay came along and she had her very own playmates!
Andi graduated from Roswell High School in 1969, a beautiful Red Belle dance team member. She also graduated from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor with a degree in accounting.  She was a career Certified Public Accountant who loved her profession and her clients. At the time she entered the profession, only 20 percent of CPAs were women, and she did her best to empower women from every walk of life.  Andi was honored as an Outstanding Young Woman in America in 1984. She was appointed to the New Mexico Board of Public Accountancy in 2002 after serving on national committees of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New Mexico Society of Certified Public Accountants. She was treasurer of the Republican Party of New Mexico in 1996. Andi was a devoted member and held various offices of the Altrusa International Roswell Club for over 30 years. She served as Assisteens sponsor in 1994.  The Court Appointed Special Advocates were so important to Andi and her husband Brett Leach that they served together on the Board of CASA, raising funds and awareness. Andi’s proudest service to the community was her years of service on the Board of Directors of Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. She was an avid supporter of the medical community and the patients they serve, and she gave her all for quality medical care in Southeastern New Mexico.
Andi’s greatest blessings and favorite people were her beloved daughter Sara Ann, her grandsons Cooper and Will, and the love of her life, her husband Brett Leach, who preceded her in death in 2015.  Andi loved to listen to music, hit the golf course with Brett, and enjoy a glass of wine while telling stories with friends.
Andi was also preceded in death by her mother June 20, 2017, her father in 1999, and her brother Jay Hill in 1996. She is survived by her daughter Sara Wagner, son-in-law Noel Wagner, and grandson Cooper Wagner of Fort Worth, Texas and stepdaughter Kristen Leach Harrington, son-in-law Pete Harrington and grandson Will of Denver, Colorado. Also left to cherish her memory are sister Danna Masters (Douglas) of Temple, Texas, sister Alexis Turley (Victor) of Salado, Texas, and brother Steve Hill of Roswell, New Mexico, and nieces and nephews in Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma.
The family will hold a memorial service for Andi and her mother Dorothy on Saturday, December 9, 2017, in Roswell. Details of the service will be announced the week before the service in the newspaper. Memorials may be sent to Chaves Country CASA, 500 N. Main St., Suite 310, Roswell, NM, 88201.
