DEXTER — The Lady Demons can’t shake a team that has their number, Texico, in fact this team defeated them in the state title match last year, and then again, this season. Maybe they have the Lady Demons number, but then again that is still to be determined.

If nothing else, Dexter’s match against a spirited Capitan Tiger team had the feel of a big-time high school playoff game. The Lady Demons were pushed in all three of their games, rallying from six-points down three different times. Dexter would romp in three-straight sets 28-26, 25-20, 25-23, ruining the return of Dexter legendary coach Pam Allen.

Allen started her teaching and coaching career at Dexter, she coached the volleyball team to their first two Blue Trophy’s in 1974-75.

“It was cool to come back here and see familiar faces,” Allen said. “It was nice to see the Wall of Fame as I came in.”

Every time Capitan made a run, Dexter would come up with a dive or block and end up turning the tide with clutch serves. Darcie Regalado served for six straight points in the first game to bring her team back to tie the score at 20-20.

“I was thinking about serving my best,” Regalado said. “I wanted to make my foot work was correct.”

With the win Dexter (9-6, 3-0) advances their goal of being undefeated during the first round of district play.

“I’m just trying to push points for my team,” Madison Bogle said. “We are trying to go 4-0 during district play for the first time ever.

The Lady Demons return to the court at 3 p.m. when they play at Loving Saturday.
