Mexico government to set up ‘mobile consulate’ this weekend

To serve citizens of Mexico living in the Roswell area, the Consulate General of Mexico will establish a “mobile consulate” here Saturday and Sunday.

Services will be provided starting 8 a.m. at the Roswell Adult and Recreation Center, 807 N. Missouri Ave.

Representatives of the consulate, which has an office in El Paso, will offer documentation services and assistance with legal or judicial concerns. Passports, consular records, foreign birth certificates and U.S. birth certificates, as well as certified copies of birth certificates generated in national territories, will be processed. There are costs associated with these services.

Appointments are needed and can be made by calling 1-877- 639-4835 or 915-637-8167. They also can be made online at the MEXITEL website.

In addition, representatives with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and Catholic Charities of Southern New Mexico will present talks and answer questions about naturalization and visas starting at 8:00 a.m. An appointment is not necessary to attend these talks.
