‘Trunk or Treat’ today

A United Way affiliate agency will host a “Trunk or Treat” at the Roswell J.O.Y. Center on today from 5 to 8 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. The Roswell J.O.Y. Center is located at 1822 N. Main St. For more information, call (575) 914-0285.”

Sunset Elementary School Character Counts and Red Ribbon Week March

Students will march as a group from the school to the air center to celebrate Red Ribbon Week and Character Counts.

Game workshop for youth 

Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge is now taking applications for the 2017 Youth Pheasant Hunt and Upland Game Workshop. This special hunt event is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 2. Youth 17 years of age or younger are encouraged to apply for this limited hunt. Applications may be picked up at your local sporting goods outlet, the state Game and Fish Office and at Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge.

Applications must be received no later than Nov. 11, 2017. The event will focus on educating young enthusiasts on the heritage of upland game hunting, habitat conservation, upland game ecology and hunting ethics. The workshop offers opportunities to learn from experts in the field of upland conservation, biology and hunting.

Senior Circle offers flu shots

Senior Circle will provide free flu shots to the first 200 members from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 28.

Members must show their membership card to get their flu shots.

In addition, non-members may sign up for an annual fee and get their flu shots as long as supplies last.

Senior Circle, a resource of Eastern New Mexico Medical Center, is for people 50 years old and older and is located next door to Family Dollar at 2801-D N. Main St.
