Two cable TV shows will put Roswell and its infamous UFO connection back in the spotlight this week.

During the 2017 UFO Festival in late June, several TV shows, podcasts and filming crews were in town to grab some footage and do interviews for their productions. This week, two of the TV channels will air segments about the city’s storied dalliance with extraterrestrials.

“Expeditions Unknown: The Hunt for Extraterrestrials” will air a segment called “Roswell Revealed” tonight at 7 p.m. on the Travel Channel. According to the Travel Channel website, the segment will include reports from an investigative team about an extraterrestrial encounter in Arkansas and an interview with a researcher about the “mother of all UFOs,” the 1947 UFO crash. Other air times will be this Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 12-13 and Nov. 22.

On Thursday at 7 p.m., four local dineries will be featured on the Cooking Channel. Chef Toddzilla, Black Betty BBQ, El Chupacabra and Just Say Dough created dishes with a nod to alien culture during the UFO Festival for the series “Carnival Eats.” The segment is called “Close Encounters of the Food Kind.” Dishes featured include a cheesecake bomb, an alien egg and a Crashed UF-Dough. Other airings are scheduled for this Friday and Nov. 5, 9, 10, 19, 20 and 23.

“These are places that people in Roswell can enjoy all the time,” said Kathy Lay, executive director of MainStreet Roswell, which helped TV production crews coordinate their activities during the UFO Festival.
