State tourism website seeks local businesses

Local businesses have the opportunity to be seen by potential Roswell visitors by being part of the business listings on newmexico.org, a website of the New Mexico Department of Tourism.

The City of Roswell encourages local businesses to upload their information and other material to the Roswell page of the state website, which allows people to click on the various areas of the state to learn more about that region and its communities. Each community’s page includes a business listing from which visitors can connect to more information about each business. There are currently numerous Roswell-area businesses in the listing and city tourism officials hope more will become part of this effective tool to reach potential visitors.

The website contains an abundance of information about New Mexico, with that information designed to be used by tourists thinking about or planning a trip to the state. In addition to tourists seeking information, the site is often used by travel writers in search of possible story ideas about things such as interesting restaurants, unique lodging properties, guided travel experiences, and other out-of-the-ordinary attractions.

To upload information to the Roswell local business listing on newmexico.org, a business must first sign up for an account, which can be done on the Partners Portal page at https://www.newmexico.org/industry/work-together/partners-portal/partners-sign-up/.

Businesses can also apply to become “New Mexico True”-certified, which recognizes businesses producing products that are locally grown, manufactured or otherwise “born” in New Mexico. The “True Certified” businesses are showcased on the state tourism website. To learn more about the free program and to apply, visit https://www.newmexico.org/industry/work-together/true-certified/ and click on the “Work Together” tab.
