The Southeast NM Community Action Corporation Head Start program is currently accepting enrollment applications for the Roswell Head Start Program for the 2017-2018. Children must have turned three or four before Sept. 1 to apply.

The Head Start program is free of charge, and no school supplies are needed. Head Start serves nutritious meals for breakfast and lunch. The classes are held Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This program works with children by developing social, emotional, and academic skills in preparation for kindergarten. The families are assisted in goal setting based on each family’s individual needs and concerns. Services from this program are also provided to children with disabilities.

The following documents are needed for enrollment: a state issued birth certificate, current and updated immunization record, income verification for the previous year (W-2 or income tax for 2016, TANF, and/or child support), and a Medicaid or health insurance card, if the child receives coverage.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to call to schedule an appointment, or drop into complete an application for enrollement. Enrollments are being held at the Roswell Head Start Centers at 505 East McGaffey, call 627-5489, and 209 E Hendricks, call 624-1285.
