Artesia Police will be keeping an eye on the streets this month

ARTESIA — The Artesia Police Department is reminding people that officers will be out and about during the month of December.

“The Artesia Police Department is looking forward to a Christmas season and a month of December that is safe for everyone,” said APD Commander Lindell Smith.

He is reminding people that part of a safe season means to be responsible when consuming alcohol and paying attention to the rules of the road.

“For those that continue to be irresponsible, the APD will continue to engage in roadblocks, saturation patrols and directed enforcement efforts in and around the city of Artesia,” he said.

Smith added that officers will also be looking for those who maybe violating open container, seatbelt and texting while driving laws.

“We encourage people to do their share to keep the roads safe and find a safe alternative to drinking and driving,” he added.
