Margaret Klett Hunker died November 24, 2017. She was 101 years old. She had a blessed life.
Margaret was born on a ranch in Southeastern Colorado to Richard and Florence Klett. She and her brother Richard rode a horse to a one-room school. Later she boarded during the week to go to high school in Las Animas, Colorado.
After finishing her degree at the University of Colorado, she married George H. Hunker, Jr. in 1940. After World War II they moved to Roswell, New Mexico where they started and raised a family.
Their two children, George H. Hunker III and Margaret Katherine Hunker Meuse, remember that their mother always said, “I love you.”
Margaret and her husband George were in love. They celebrated their 60th anniversary in 2000 shortly before his death a few weeks later. Margaret often said, “There isn’t a night that I don’t dream about Daddy.” Now they are together.
Margaret’s ashes will be spread this summer by her children and grandchildren above the Rio Grande River near George, Jr.
