City offices, college closed for holidays

Most Roswell city offices will be closed Friday, Dec. 22, Monday, Dec. 25, and Monday, Jan. 1, for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

The Roswell Public Library will be among the city facilities to close Christmas and New Year’s Day, and will also be closed Christmas Eve, Dec. 24. However, the library will be open Friday, Dec. 22.

In addition, city bus service and trash pickup will be altered on certain days because of the holidays.

Pecos Trails Transit will have buses in operation only on Main Street for Friday, Dec. 22, and New Year’s Day. On Dec. 22, buses will run from about 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. On Jan. 1, they will run from about 10:50 a.m. to 7 p.m. There will be no bus service Christmas Day.

The Sanitation Department’s trash pickup will be adjusted the last two weeks of December and the first week of January.

For the week of Dec. 18, south-side pick-ups remain on the normal schedule of Monday and Thursday. Tuesday north-side pick-ups remain on the normal schedule, but the Friday pick-ups will be done Saturday.

For the weeks of Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, pick-ups normally done Monday and Tuesday will be delayed one day, so south-side pick-ups will be done Tuesday, and north-side pick-ups will be done Wednesday. Thursday and Friday pick-ups remain on the normal schedule.

The landfill will be closed Friday, Dec. 22, open Saturday, Dec. 23, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and closed Monday, Dec. 25. The landfill will be closed Monday, Jan. 1.


Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell will be closed for the winter break starting at noon on Friday, Dec. 22, through Monday, Jan. 1, 2018. The campus will reopen at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2.

Students can still apply for admission and register for the spring semester online at www.roswell.enmu.edu On-campus registration and advising will resume Jan. 2. The spring 2018 semester begins Tuesday, Jan. 16.
