Toys For Tots makes hundreds of children happy; Volunteers help ‘tots’ pick out toys

Juan Gallindo places a Nerf gun into a bag with the assistance of Staff Sgt. Justin Dalglish, a Marine recruiter, during Saturday’s Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys For Tots giveaway at the Roswell Mall. About 900 area families had signed up for the thousands of toys donated by companies and individuals from the area as well as from El Paso and nationwide. Children 10 and under who were winners of drawings received bicycles, but all youth had their choices of a room full of dolls, games, puzzles, cars, Xbox games, stuffed animals, soccer balls, books and many other new items. Additional families that had not registered were expected later in the day. Volunteers helping kids during the morning included Pioneer Bank employees, active duty and reserve Marines as well as Marine recruiters and Marine poolees, and Roadrunner and Badlands Saints motorcycle club riders.
