After receiving multiple calls and different stories Monday night about a man with blonde hair out in north Roswell shooting at vehicles and into the air with a firearm, the Roswell Police Department clarified shortly after that the “man” was actually just a teenager living in the northern part of town who purchased a BB rifle from Walmart and was walking back home while carrying the nonlethal weapon.

The Chaves County Sheriff’s Office was originally dispatched to the call due to RPD officers working on the drive-by shooting at East Bland Street and the false bomb threat at Circle K on North Main, the RPD’s public information officer said.

Police added that the BB rifle was never loaded.

City police later took over the case, but no charges or arrests were made against the teen.
