The Roswell Independent School District’s director of activities and athletics has been placed on administrative leave, the district’s superintendent says.

“Yes, it is true that Mr. Hudson is on a leave of absence,” said RISD interim superintendent Susan Sanchez while leaving the Roswell High – Hobbs basketball game Thursday evening.

RISD assistant superintendent of Human Resources Brian Byrd confirmed Troy Hudson, 43, was placed on an administrative leave.

“It is a personal matter,” Byrd said. “Unfortunately, I can’t comment on it.”

Byrd said he will be overseeing the activities and athletics department until further notice.

“That department falls under me,” he said. “That’s all I can say.”

The Daily Record reached out to Hudson Thursday night, seeking a comment on this situation. Hudson declined to comment.
